small cheap looking box – I ordered this for my 6 year old Nephew. I am not impressed with the appearance of the box. It looks like a cheap gift for a toddler. It’s a very light and small item. Says made in China in big letters on the box. I am contemplating sending back b/c it looks like I paid $10 for it.

Bow & arrows okay. Quiver is a fail. – A little assembly is required. The bow comes in two big pieces that slide together. The elastic bowstring needs adjusting to get it to the right tautness. A back up bowstring is included. There’s a hole in the bow where the arrow goes through and a little notch on the back of the arrow that makes it easy to steady the arrow and have it shoot off nicely. Still haven’t mastered getting the arrows to stick to the target. The kids like to just stick the arrows to stuff around the house and yank them off so the suction cups are already getting wavy. I think they will lose their ability to stick soon. The bow itself is a solid bow and works well with the arrows. What was most disappointing was the quiver. It has one strap that’s supposed to let the quiver be tight to the body, but it ends up being too tilted on my son’s back and the arrows just fall out! He’s a slim 9-year-old. A big part of his excitement was the idea that he could pull the arrows out of the quiver and look so cool doing it! He won’t be able to do it with this quiver. Maybe if I made a drawstring sack with loops over both shoulders, the quivers would stay upright on his back…If you have a child that wants to stand and practice shooting a bow and arrow, this will work fine. If the child wants to run around with the toy playing an action hero, this won’t work as the arrows easily fall out of the quiver.

Birthday Gift Success – I got this as a 7th birthday gift for my youngest sister. She’s very rough and tumble so I’ve learned not to buy overly expensive or nice things yet, as the possibility of the gift breaking within days is high. She had been building her own “bone” and arrows as she calls them, so when I saw this listed on the lightning deal, I knew it would be a good choice. With a very fair price for the included items, I was pleasantly surprised with how sturdy it was when put together.
