A little confused… – I bought these for my Pre-K geology unit. The kids had an AWESOME time uncovering the different stones. However, there was not one of each stone as advertised, and I didn’t find that out until we got to the end of the box and the cards didn’t match. I had two very sad kids who didn’t get to take the matching card home, but a photocopy instead. Big time bummer.

It is a little messy – The mess is only from the block the rock is hidden in. If you use water with it it’s alot less messy unless it gets spilt. It’s a great party favor fun though.

Very small rocks, difficult to find – It’s a chalk block you soak then dig/carve apart, and on the inside you’re supposed to find a cool polished rock… Except the rocks are quite small. Think the size of a US ¢.10 Typical amounts of messiness. I won’t buy this again and don’t recommend as a present if you have ANY kind of access to a polished rock bin (like you’d find in a museum store). Just make your own instead with a bigger rock (Google: “how to make your own dig blocks”)
